Judge Joe Brown Arrested In Memphis, Details And Video Inside!
We saw the headlines yesterday afternoon, “Judge Joe Brown Arrested!” And we were about to write a story on the arrest, but there was just so little to talk about. It was all just speculation.
Well, now we know more details and it’s looking like the arrest should have never happened. The former TV court judge was arrested in Memphis yesterday for contempt of court. Apparently, Mr. Brown appeared before Juvenile Court Magistrate Harold Horne, to represent someone in a child support case.
Things got heated in the courtroom. One witness even claims that a “riot” was about to take place. Horne warned the 66-year-old judge to calm down, but Brown refused. He continued to scold Horne and his shoddy operation. At this point, Brown was sentenced to 24 hours in jail for contempt of court.
It quickly went up to fives days after that because Brown refused to stop yelling. You can hear the exchange in the video down below…
[more…]I don’t know about you, but I think the media owes ol’ Brown an apology. Yesterday, they were making it seem like he was in there, jumping on tables and calling everyone in the courtroom fart sniffers.
It turns out, he was trying to make a valid point. Brown is running for Shelby County District Attorney, and he believes this was dirty politics.
He told reporters the following after being released from jail…
“I’m a little hot under the collar. In 40 years, I’ve never seen such a circus as they’ve got down there.”
Meanwhile, Brown’s opponent, Amy Weirich, believes this was just a big publicly stunt. Amy’s campaign manager said…
“That sort of disrespectful circus stunt may get Hollywood ratings, but this is real life and real people, and Joe Brown knows better. He should be ashamed of himself.”
Could this have been a stunt? It’s doubtful. It doesn’t look like this “circus” was planned, but you can’t really be sure of anything anymore. For all we know, Jimmy Kimmel will take credit for this arrest tomorrow.
