D.L. Hughley Trades Laughs For Tears While Talking About His Son With Asperger’s Syndrome
D.L. Hughley may not be the biggest name in comedy right now, but as one of The Original Kings of Comedy, he deserves some respect. And while he has made a few mistakes in his personal life, it’s clear this man cares deeply about his family.
During a recent episode of ‘Oprah: Where Are They Now?’ the 52-year-old comedian shared a beautiful story about his son, who was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome when he was a child.
He’s now 26-years-old, and he’s still surprising his proud father every single day. Check out the emotional video below…
If you didn’t feel something while watching that, then maybe you need to start checking yourself for wires. For those of you who can’t watch the video right now, please allow us to explain what happened.
Hughley talked about how proud he was of his son for graduating college, but admitted he still struggles with mundane tasks, “He goes to work at the same time. He eats the same thing.” He told the camera.
And then he explained how his son surprised him a few weeks ago at a gas station. He actually volunteered to step out of his comfort zone and put gas inside his father’s car…
He said, ‘Daddy, I’ll do it.’ I’m a nervous wreck…So he comes back in and he gives me the receipt and the keys. And I could not stop crying, because he did something he was afraid to do. I just didn’t believe he could do it. He did it.
It’s really an inspiring story. Come back and watch it when you get the chance.
