Tamar Braxton’s Dancing with the Stars Nightmare, Rushed To Hospital Just Before Live Show…Did She Make It Back?!?
If you have been following this 1000th season of Dancing with the Stars, then you know Tamar Braxton has been killing it out on the dance floor. The 38-year-old singer and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy had a wonderful score last week. They tied with Bindi Irwin‘s second place score of 28/30, falling just a few points behind Nick Carter‘s perfect score.
But this week was a struggle for Braxton. According to her partner, she has actually been sick for a week or two now, trying to fight off pneumonia. And yesterday during the middle of rehearsals, she could hardly even stand, so she was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
It looked like she was going to completely miss the live show, which would have resulted in a heartbreaking elimination. As some of you may remember, Kim Zolciak-Biermann was forced to leave the competition a little over a month ago after suffering a mini stroke and missing the live show.
And after Tamar missed her first dance with her partner Monday night, everyone was expecting the worst. The judges, per the official rules, had to score Tamar and her partner based on the performance they gave in dress rehearsal, which only managed to get them a 22/30 score.
Val said this after receiving the score from the judges…
You just saw a person that shouldn’t have been here, and was here because she felt bad for her partner, teacher, you know, that’s why I feel really bad, because it shouldn’t be like that. It should be a fun journey. I’m not here to make her life hard. We want to celebrate her effort.
But at least things ended on a positive note. With just 20 minutes left in the show, Braxton surprised everyone when she danced with Nick Carter to a cover of Hey Jude. Had she missed the entire show, she would have been eliminated.
According to Carter, he was instructed to take the lead and hold Tamar up during the dance. Literally…hold her up to prevent her from falling.
She was unstable. So on top of everything else I needed to know and didn’t learn because of our lack of rehearsals, I had to really put her first and assume that responsibility and really just kind of make sure that she was taken care of.
Nick’s pro partner Sharna Burgess was extremely proud of him…
That was really my most proud moment of the entire season. Seeing how Nick took care of Tamar — even at the end he was like, ‘I’ve got you,’ and had her sit down on his knee.
And even though the dance was clearly not perfect, the judges gave the group a 27/30, mainly because of their bravery and effort.
