Matthew Perry Admits He Can’t Remember Entire Seasons Of ‘Friends’ Because He Was So ‘Out Of It’

I haven’t attended my local ‘Friends Fanatics‘ meetings lately, but I believe Chandler Bing is still one of the most adored characters from the series. He was certainly one of my favorite characters. Matthew Perry is, of course, the actor who played Mr. Bing for over 230 episodes. 10 seasons of that wonderful Bing sarcasm.

But as any good Friends fan knows, Perry was struggling with addiction while filming the show. Struggling with both alcohol and prescription drug addictions. And while Perry has always maintained he was never inebriated during filming, the 46-year-old actor does admit he can’t remember much of anything between seasons 3-6.

He admitted this during an interview on BBC Radio 2 when the host, Chris Evans, asked him to name his least favorite episode of Friends.

I think the answer is I don’t remember three years of it, so none of those. I was a little out of it at the time. Somewhere between seasons 3 and 6.

As most of you probably know, Perry went to rehab at least twice during his time on the show. Once in 1997 and 2001.

Now that he has been clean for years, he has discovered there is no better feeling than helping other addicts fight their addictions. He told the Hollywood Reporter last year that the awards don’t mean much compared to the success stories coming out of his sober-living facility for men, the Perry House.

I’ve had a lot of ups and downs in my life and a lot of wonderful accolades. But the best thing about me is that if an alcoholic comes up to me and says, ‘Will you help me stop drinking?’ I will say, ‘Yes. I know how to do that.’

That’s great to hear. He sounds like an awesome dude. And for those wondering why he wasn’t in that Friends “reunion” photo floating around, it’s because he’s currently getting ready to star in his play The End of Longing in the U.K.

There is no bad blood between the group.
