Baltimore Orioles loses infielder to motorcycle accident
Ramon Ramirez, 23, a minor league infielder for the Baltimore Orioles died in a motorcycle accident in the Dominican Republic on Saturday night. He was struck by a vehicle while he was leaving a softball game. His girlfriend, who was on the back of the motorcycle, survived the crash, though suffered a broken leg.
Executive VP of the Orioles addressed the accident in a statement;
Our entire organization is deeply saddened by the sudden and tragic death of Ramon Ramirez. As a member of the Orioles organization, Ramon worked tirelessly to make the most of his opportunity to play professional baseball. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, teammates, and coaches as we mourn this unimaginable loss.
Ramirez was born in Santiago de los Caballeros and signed with the Orioles as a free agent in 2014. He was about to turn 24 in Feb.
