Who Knew? Angie Martinez Reveals in her New Book, The Time She Actually Put Hands On Wendy Williams.
Even today that would be a pretty big deal. Unlike Funk Master Flex’s website, Wendy actually provided the content herself for her website so there was no question who Angie should be mad at.
Angie writes in her book that Wendy, at that time, called every rapper Gay.
Every rapper you could think of in that era, I had heard Wendy Williams call them gay. Not one or two. Like every one of them.
Angie explains that one day she finally lost it and decided to “put hands” on Wendy at the actual radio station.
I lost my f–king mind,” writes Martinez in her book. “Before I knew it I was swinging at her. It was a quick scuffle. It took only a few seconds for me to realize that she wasn’t really hitting me back — she was just trying to get me off of her.
She says they were both suspended and when news of the fight got out, Wendy fans came for Martinez. She said she was receiving threats on the daily. It’s hilarious because in the days before Instagram, twitter and Snapchat the threats came via fax!!
I used to get threatening faxes . . . that said things like, ‘Bitch, get off the radio. I’ll break your jaw,’ It was awful and it made me insecure.
She says that there is no beef between the two now and in fact she enjoys Wendy’s show
I watch her TV talk show sometimes and she has really mastered her lane. I find myself watching and laughing out loud. I don’t have any ill feelings toward her.
This was the perfect clean up move, because we all know that Wendy will respond if she doesn’t like what is being said, or feels that the story is twisted. Wendy has a bigger platform and if Martinez didn’t tell the story straight, then you know Wendy will. So far nothing from Wendy so it’s safe to say that Martinez’ account was probably spot on, which lends credibility to the rest of the tales in the book.
