Dave Chappelle Defends DaBaby’s Comments About LGBT Community In New Special
Dave Chappelle just dropped a new stand-up special on Netflix today. The special, which is titled The Closer, was released on Netflix on Tuesday, October 5.
The early reaction from his fans have been mostly positive, but of course this is Dave Chappelle we’re talking about here. You know he’s going to say at least one thing that starts some trouble.
During the new special, Chappelle talks about how angry everyone was with DaBaby for making homophobic comments.
This was strange to Dave because DaBaby has actually killed a man. You’ll remember that DaBaby was involved in a fatal shooting in a Walmart in North Carolina. He got away with it by claiming it was done in self-defense.
Watch what Dave’s going for here … he’s suggesting that pissing off the gay community these days is a way bigger deal — and could end your career faster — than actually killing.
It’s all tongue-in-cheek, of course, but DC’s making a point he seems to believe … that what DaBaby did wasn’t really that big a deal — considering his overall history.

Obviously he’s joking a little, but at the same time, he’s making a very reasonable point.
Our gauge is broken as a society. I’m not saying you should go on homophobic rants. You absolutely shouldn’t, but also, why are we so offended by certain things, but not by others? Especially when the “other” is murder.
We are certainly living in strange times. I think eventually things we’ll balance out, but for right now, you better be careful with your words. They mean more than your actions.
