An Emotional Nick Cannon Reveals His 5-Month-Old Son Has Died From Brain Cancer
The internet has made a lot of jokes about Nick Cannon’s busy year. He welcomed four kids into the world this past year with multiple women, including model Alyssa Scott.
Together, they welcomed Cannon’s seventh child, a baby boy named Zen. He was born back in July of this year and early on, Nick and Alyssa knew something wasn’t right.
He had a cough that wouldn’t go away, strange breathing, and a larger than normal head, which Nick thought was just passed down by his family. They didn’t think it was anything serious, but they had a doctor check him out for potential sinus/breathing problems.
Doctors discovered fluid was building in Zen’s head. They also discovered a tumor, which required immediate surgery. Unfortunately, the tumor was malignant. He had surgery to have a shunt put in and drain the fluid, but his health took a turn for the worse around Thanksgiving.
Nick had been keeping most of the health issues private, but on the Tuesday episode of his talk show, The Nick Cannon Show, he revealed Zen died this past weekend.
You can hear how shocked the studio audience was when Nick tearfully broke the news.
This weekend I made an effort to spend the most quality time with Zen. We woke up on Sunday and went to the ocean with him and Alyssa, and then I had to fly back to New York for the show. I got a call on my way to the airport to head back to Zen.
He talked about how beautiful that last day with Zen was. How he held him by the ocean.
Nick also explained that he’s back at work so soon because he needs a distraction, “You can’t heal until you feel,” he explained, before adding that the episode would serve as a celebration of life for Zen.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Nick and Alyssa. Such terrible news.
