Adele Breaks Down In Tears After Being Forced To Cancel Las Vegas Residency Due To COVID-19
Experts say the states may have already peaked when it comes to the Omicron variant of COVID-19, but that doesn’t mean things aren’t still being impacted in a major way.
Adele was scheduled to kick off her Las Vegas residency, Weekends with Adele, today at the iconic Colosseum theatre in Caesars Palace. The show was scheduled to run through April 16, but just one day before the premiere was set to kick off, Adele went on her social media accounts to provide a tearful update.
In the emotional video, the 33-year-old singer revealed she and her team were having to cancel the beginning portion of the residency. Everything is having to be pushed back now due to COVID-19 wrecking her team. In the clip, she claims half her team are down with the illness.
Hi, listen I’m so sorry but my show ain’t ready. We tried absolutely everything that we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID. Half my crew, half my team are down with COVID — they still are.
She added that they tried everything, but it’s just not possible to begin the show. She talked about being so tired after being awake the past 30 hours trying to figure out a way to make it work.
I can’t give you what I have right now. I’m tired. I’m tired. I’m sorry it’s so last minute, we’ve been awake for over 30 hours now trying to figure it out, and we’ve run out of time.
It’s pretty terrible news for fans who were already in Vegas. They didn’t cancel the show until 24 hours before, so you know most of the people were already on planes to Vegas. Or heck, most were probably already at their hotels. A major bummer indeed.
Adele admitted to being super embarrassed…
I’m so upset, and I’m really embarrassed and so sorry to everyone that’s traveled again. I’m really, really sorry, I’m really sorry. We’re on it, we’re gonna reschedule all of the dates, we’re on it right now, and I’m gonna finish my show and I’m gonna get it to where it’s supposed to be. I’m so sorry it’s been impossible, we’ve been up against so much, and it just ain’t ready. I’m really sorry.
No word on when the show is scheduled to begin now, but hopefully they get it all figured out. I’m sure the people who were scheduled to be there this weekend will just have to accept a refund.
I doubt the majority of them will be able to clear out another weekend in Vegas one month down the road.
