Jake Gyllenhaal Breaks Silence On Taylor Swift’s ‘All Too Well’ And He’s All Too Over It

Jake Gyllenhaal has no time for Taylor Swift’s silly games. You’ll remember the internet was hot with passionate anger when Swift released the 10-minute version of ‘All Too Well‘ back in November of 2021.

The track was released on an updated version of her most successful album, Red, which originally dropped back in 2012.

The original album release came just a little over a year after Swift and Gyllenhaal had a short, but intense relationship in late 2010. It’s been rumored that the majority of songs on ‘Red’ are about the relationship, specifically the ‘All Too Well’ track.

So when Swift dropped the 10-minute version of the track and a short film to go along with it, well, people ate it up and became mad at Gyllenhaal all over again for breaking her heart. The hate from obsessive Swift fans caused the 41-year-old actor to turn off his Instagram comments late last year.

Now, a couple months later, he’s addressing the track for the first time. In an interview with Esquire, Gyllenhaal claimed the song had nothing to do with him anymore…

It has nothing to do with me. It’s about her relationship with her fans. It is her expression. Artists tap into personal experiences for inspiration, and I don’t begrudge anyone that.

The person conducting the interview pressed on the matter, telling Gyllenhaal that surely the song had some impact on him, considering he turned off his Instagram comments.

That’s when Gyllenhaal addressed cyberbullying…

At some point, I think it’s important when supporters get unruly that we feel a responsibility to have them be civil and not allow for cyberbullying in one’s name. That begs for a deeper philosophical question. Not about any individual, per se, but a conversation that allows us to examine how we can—or should, even—take responsibility for what we put into the world, our contributions into the world.

I mean, it’s not a direct hit on Swift, but it’s pretty damn close. Everyone on the internet knows Swift has some of the most loyal/passionate fans, and when they attack you… THEY ATTACK!

And 99% of the time, Swift lets them run wild. Gyllenhaal is suggesting Swift should take some responsibility for that, and I don’t disagree with him.
