Tom Hanks’ Son Chet Says He Didn’t Have A Strong Male Role Model Growing Up

In case you missed it, Chet Hanks released a video on his YouTube channel titled ‘The Truth About Growing Up As A Hanks‘ and it got a lot of attention.

He was pretty open in the video. The 31-year-old personal trainer talked about how people would judge him before even getting to know him when he was younger. He said people would just hate his guts, simply because he was a rich kid with famous parents.

And when all this was happening, he didn’t have anyone truly sticking up for him, to let him know the “haters” don’t matter.

I didn’t have a strong male role model to tell me … ‘Bro, f–k these people. They are just jealous of you. You have all these things that they want, so they are trying to f–king throw their shade at you so you can feel s–tty about yourself because they are jealous.’ I needed to hear that.

Sure, I guess. I don’t know that every single person who has disliked Chet was simply jealous of him. I’m sure some had good reasons.

But I get his point. He was probably unfairly judged at times, based on his status in life. That being said, he wouldn’t change his life of privilege.

There’s a lot of advantages, but sometimes it can be pretty weird. I got to do a lot of cool s–t that a lot of people don’t get the opportunity to do. I got to travel the world, stay in nice hotels, fly on private planes, and I’m very blessed for that. I wouldn’t change my situation.

He adds though, the situation was strange because he had the taste of fame without even being famous, “I was just the son of somebody famous,” he said in the video. He struggled with reaping the benefits of fame without having done anything to receive said benefits.

But it looks like he’s in a good place right now, and it looks like he’s wanting to help people get in the best shape of their life.
