Another Conservatorship Has Fallen, Amanda Bynes Is Now A Free Woman!

Back in November of 2021, a judge decided to end Britney Spears’ 13-year-long conservatorship, which was put in place by her father during her most tumultuous years.

Now, just a few months later, another conservatorship has fallen. It was announced on Tuesday that Amanda Bynes’ 8-year-long conservatorship was terminated after a long battle in court… but not nearly as long and cumbersome as Britney’s.

The 35-year-old former child star released the following statement:

Following today’s decision by the judge to terminate my conservatorship, I would like to thank my fans for their love and well wishes during this time. I would also like to thank my lawyer and my parents for their support over the last nine years.

In the last several years, I have been working hard to improve my health so that I can live and work independently, and I will continue to prioritize my well-being in this next chapter. I am excited about my upcoming endeavors — including my fragrance line — and look forward to sharing more when I can.

The judge working the case reportedly congratulated Bynes for her hard work and wished her “good luck” in the future.

Some of you may remember that Bynes’ mother, Lynn, was granted temporary conservatorship back in 2013 following a series of of concerning outbursts from Bynes. Lynn gained full conservatorship in October of 2014.

Over the last several years, Bynes has been living out of the spotlight as she finishes her degree at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. She previously earned her associate’s degree in 2019 and celebrated the milestone on social media.

According to TMZ, Bynes is being slammed with interview requests. Even CBS’ Gayle King has reached out, but it doesn’t look like anyone will be getting an interview anytime soon.

Her attorney, David A. Esquibias, told TMZ that she’s not ready to talk just yet. She’s even had filmmakers get in touch for a potential documentary, but yeah, her attorney claims she just wants to “lay low” for a bit.

And honestly, that’s probably for the best. If she’s just thrown back into the madness that sparked her mental health struggles, then she could have some sort of relapse.

The spotlight ain’t for everybody.
