Two Workers Had To Be Rescued After Falling Inside Tank Filled With Chocolate At M&M Mars Factory
Some truly ‘Willy Wonka’ type sh*t went down in Pennsylvania on Thursday. The bizarre incident took place at a Mars food processing plant. They are responsible for creating some of your favorite chocolate treats, including M&Ms and Dove chocolates.
But on Thursday, the plant had to be shut down while rescuers attempted to save two employees who fell into a tank of chocolate.
According to the reports, the employees fell waist-deep into the chocolate-filled tank and could not get out. And instead of simply eating their way out, they waited to be rescued by the professionals.
The rescuers apparently had to cut a hole on the side of the tank to get the employees out. The first employee was rescued at around 3:15 in the afternoon and the second one was removed around 15 minutes later. No injuries were reported, but we have to imagine at least one of them had a serious case of sweet tooth.
A spokesperson for Mars released the following statement:
We can confirm both people have been taken offsite for further evaluation. We’re extremely grateful for the quick work of first responders.
A couple of reporters tried to get more information by calling the facility, but the employee who answered hung up on them, so we’re assuming their managers told them, “Speak to no one, or else…” and then pointed at the chocolate tank.
At least everyone is okay. I just hope this doesn’t impact their production. This nation can’t handle a chocolate shortage on top of all the other shortages.
