Tia Mowry Drops Some Knowledge On Marriage And Divorce, Someone Give Her A TED Talk!
‘Sister, Sister‘ star Tia Mowry announced back in October that she and her husband Cory Hardrict were filing for a divorce after 14 years of marriage.
Many people were shocked by this. After all, they seemed solid and shared two children together. They had built a perfect little family.
But as we all know, nothing is truly perfect. During a recent interview on the Today show, the 44-year-old actress revealed she finally figured out her marriage wasn’t working when she decided to put her happiness first.
I knew when I really started to focus on my happiness. I feel like women, we tend to focus on everybody else’s happiness, making sure that everybody else is OK — meaning our children, our friends, our family — but at the end of the day, it’s about self-love. When you start to really work on yourself, love yourself, know your value and know your worth, then all of a sudden, there’s this awakening.
She admits it’s not easy though, especially when you have 14 years of marriage and two children involved in the process. But she says once you get through the difficult times, it all becomes so very worth it.
Apparently, this new mindset of Tia’s came after entering therapy and experiencing the loss of a few relatives.
Tia also talked about how she doesn’t view her marriage as a failure.
I look at it as, like, a curriculum. You’re learning, you’re growing, you’re evolving, you’re creating, and I was able to create with Cory some beautiful, amazing children. It’s not about staying in something because however long you are in that situation that equals success. It’s about really, again, are you happy? Because life is really short.
She came to speak the truth, huh? If your person in life isn’t making you happy, building you up, supporting your dreams… then they ain’t your person! And same goes for them. If you’re not doing that for them, you ain’t their person either!
