Meghan Markle’s Best Friend Was Caught Laughing Backstage At Chris Rock Special As He Made Fun Of Markle For Several Minutes
Well, this is awkward. Janina Gavankar, one of Meghan Markle’s longtime best friends, was backstage at the live taping of Chris Rock’s Netflix comedy special, Selective Outrage.
The ‘Vampire Diaries’ actress, who supported Markle during the royal family drama, was backstage with her good friend, Dave Chappelle. And this typically wouldn’t be a story, but if you watched Rock’s special, then you know he went in hard on Meghan Markle.
During his set, Rock, 58, mocked the Sussexes’ 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview, in which they infamously claimed an unknown royal had raised ‘concerns’ about ‘how dark’ their baby might be before their son, Archie, was born. The comic joked that Markle was just dealing with some “in-law s—t.
He referenced the Oprah interview a lot, and basically said Markle was trying to get attention by making herself a victim. So yeah, he’s not a fan.
Despite this, people at the show claim Gavankar was watching Rock from backstage and laughing throughout. We don’t know if she knew Rock would be bashing Markle during his set, but apparently she didn’t care all that much.
She wasn’t the only person of note in attendance. Spike Lee was there with his wife, along with the Mayor of Baltimore Brandon Scott, David Spade, Arsenio Hall, Leslie Jones and Dana Carvey.
No word on if Markle is going to have a problem with all this. Gavankar might be forced to have an awkward brunch with her.
If you haven’t watched Rock’s special yet, you should. There are some slow bits, but there’s also some A+ sh*t in there as well. We won’t give anything away, but let’s just say the Kardashians will never be the same.
