Barbie Ferreira Finally Explains Why She Decided To Leave Co-Starring Role In ‘Euphoria’

Season 3 of ‘Euphoria‘ is expected to be released in 2024, but don’t expect to see Barbie Ferreira in it. The 26-year-old actress played a “plus-size” high schooler named Kat in the hit series.

Her character was a fan favorite, but in the summer of 2022, it was revealed she would not be returning for season three. Rumors started swirling, claiming she and creator/producer Sam Levinson had a major falling out.

In fact, one insider later revealed that Levinson was ‘making [cast members] cry’ while working and would ‘scream at them’ on set to try and get them to give more emotional performances.

But according to Ferreira, it was never that serious. During a recent appearance on the ‘Armchair Expert‘ podcast, the actress revealed she decided to leave the show simply because she felt like her character’s storyline had run its course.

I don’t think there was a place for [Kat] to go. I think there were places she could have gone. I just don’t think it would have fit into the show. I don’t know if it was going to do her justice, and I think both parties knew that. I really wanted to be able to not be the fat best friend. I don’t want to play that, and I think they didn’t want that either.

Additionally, she claims filming the show took up a lot of her schedule, which meant she couldn’t take on many other roles.

And even though she says there’s no beef with Levinson, she did get in a little jab with this quote…

Sam writes for, like, things that he relates to. I don’t think he relates to Kat. I like Kat, so I get to go on my own path. At first, I was like, ‘Oh, my God, I’m a flop. I’m a loser.’ It really has been a good thing.

For those who don’t know, Sam Levinson grew up as a rich kid in Hollywood. His father is Barry Levinson.
