‘Boy Meets World’ Stars Claim Ben Savage (Cory) Ghosted Them Out Of Nowhere, Haven’t Spoken In Three Years!
Boy Meets World… Boy Meets Silence? There’s some drama going on with the cast of the beloved sitcom, Boy Meets World. In an interview with Variety, Will Friedle (Eric Matthews), Danielle Fishel (Topanga) and Rider Strong (Shawn) talked about how they’re no longer in contact with Ben Savage, who played the leading role of Cory on the show.
According to the cast, they haven’t spoken to him in three years. They claim a couple years after the spinoff ‘Girl Meets World‘ ended, Ben just stopped talking to them.
Friedle told Variety:
He disappeared — I wish I knew why, to this day. We didn’t have a fight. There’s no falling out. There was no animosity. He just woke up one day, and decided ‘I don’t want this person in my life anymore.’
And Fishel says her experience with Ben is eerily similar, claiming one day he just ghosted her and hasn’t replied since. It’s especially painful for Fishel because she says they were so close before. In 2019, when she had a premature birth, she says Ben was so supportive.
We were just so, so close, especially during that time. He was checking in with me regularly.
But these days? Nothing. Not even a text. Friedle says he got tired of the ghosting at one point and decided to text/call Ben every single day until he answered.
I finally sent a text saying, ‘I’ve known you for 30 years, what’s going on?’ I said, ‘I’m gonna call you every day until you tell me not to call you anymore.’ That lasted about three weeks or a month, every single day. This went for months.
Finally, Friedle’s wife was like, “Bro, why are you doing this to yourself? He obviously doesn’t want you in his life.” The comment cut deep for the actor, but he knew she was right.
They’re all holding out hope that he returns to the friend group one day. Fishel made it clear everyone has their own journey in life…
If there’s anything this podcast has taught me, it’s that everyone is on their own journey and having their own experiences that can be perceived many different ways, depending on your POV. Speaking for myself, Ben and I may be estranged right now and we may have our complaints about each other, but I will always love Ben and want what’s best for him. I don’t think this is the end of our story — but time will tell.
Personally, I feel like they sound a little stalkerish, but at the same time, it would annoy me if someone I had known for 30 years ghosted me without an explanation. AT LEAST TELL THEM WHY, BEN!
