Some sad news to report today, country music legend Toby Keith has passed away at the age of 62. His family confirmed the news on his Instagram, writing that he died peacefully on Monday surrounded by his family at his home in Oklahoma.

In 2021, Keith was diagnosed with stomach cancer, but in recent months, it had appeared he had beaten it to some degree. In June of 2022, he shared an update with his fans, writing, “So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax. I am looking forward to spending this time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait.”

And he kept his word. In December of 2023, he had three concerts at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas. Both shows were sold-out, and Keith said it was “a damn good way to the end year.”

His friends and family say performing in front of fans was his favorite thing in the world, so it’s kinda cool he was able to do it one last time in front of thousands of people.

He had 20 No. 1 Billboard hits during his career, with songs like, “How Do You Like Me Now?” and “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” topping the charts. He was known for having a little bit of humor in his tracks.

His song, As Good As I Once Was, is a perfect example of his style of music…

He will certainly be missed, but he did leave us with a lot of memories and music. His name will be known for decades to come.
