The ‘Golden Bachelor’ Couple Is Getting A Divorce Just Three Months After Saying “I Do”

The internet was obsessed with the ‘Golden Bachelor‘ late last year. It was the first time the reality series focused on people over the age of 60 finding love.

72-year-old Gerry Turner was the lucky bachelor to kick off the series. He’s a retired restaurateur and widower from Hudson, Indiana. He found love while on the show and ended up marrying 70-year-old Theresa Nist.

People thought they’d live happily ever after, but sadly they just announced they’re divorcing after just three months of marriage. They told Good Morning America the following…

Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations, and we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation, so forth, and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage.

They didn’t offer any details as to why they couldn’t make things work, but Nist made it a point to thank everyone for their love and support…

We have received so much love and support from so many people who watched ‘The Golden Bachelor,’ and I don’t think we can tell you how many people told us that it gave them so much hope. We want none of that to change for anybody.

One of the reasons their marriage may have failed is due to them not actually treating it like a real marriage. After all, they decided not to move in together and even resided in different states. Nist stayed in New Jersey while Turner remained inside his home in Indiana.

They briefly talked about moving to South Carolina together, but ultimately, they didn’t want to leave their families…

We look at these situations, and I think we just feel like it’s best for the happiness of each of us to, to live apart. We looked at homes in South Carolina, we considered New Jersey, and we just looked at homes after home, but we never got to the point where we made that decision.

Boooooo!
