Jeff Bridges Says He’s Feeling Great Three Years After Nearly Dying From Cancer/COVID-19 Combo
74-year-old star Jeff Bridges is one of Hollywood’s most beloved actors, starring in classics like The Big Lebowski, Crazy Heart and Tron.
And sadly, the world almost lost his great talent back in 2021. For those who don’t remember, Bridges was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in late 2020, and he was forced to start rounds of chemo, which made his immune system null.
In January of 2021, he came down with COVID-19 and nearly died. He told PEOPLE the following…
I was pretty close to dying. The doctors kept telling me, ‘Jeff, you’ve got to fight. You’re not fighting.’ I was in surrender mode. I was ready to go. I was dancing with my mortality. I had no defenses. That’s what chemo does — it strips you of all your immune system. I had nothing to fight it. COVID made my cancer look like nothing.
Thankfully, he was able to find the strength to fight it, and now some three years later, he’s doing just fine. His cancer has been in remission since 2021.
On Monday night, he talked with Page Six at a special charity event, revealing that being so sick was a “learning experience” for him, but he’s happy to put it behind him.
It’s amazing the way the mind can forget all that stuff. I don’t think too much about the past. My health is great now.
We’re happy to hear it!
