Bret Michaels Breaks With Long Time Girlfriend (and baby’s mama) Kristi Gibson
Bret Michaels and Kristi Gibson are done. The long time couple announced their break up today, using Bret’s publicist to release a public statement,
“Bret Michaels and longtime girlfriend Kristi Gibson have called off their engagement at this time, Although the couple have separated, they remain great friends and are committed to jointly raising their two daughters Raine Elizabeth and Jorja Bleu.”
That’s right, they have two daughters together and have been a couple for 16 – 18 years (depends on who you ask). Raine Elizabeth is 12, and Jorja Bleu, who is just 7 will definitely be the two affected the most in this situation.
Michaels age 49 and Gibson age 41 were engaged on the season finale of his show in 2010. After that, Michaels was injured during a Tony Awards performance and suffered a brain hemorrhage that literally almost killed him. He ended up suing the Awards producers and settled for an undisclosed amount.
Now fully recovered, back on track and on the Poison/Def Leppard tour, he says he’s not taking anything for granted. Bret says,
“A brain hemorrhage puts it all in a deeper perspective. I’m one of those guys hit by lightning. I see the big picture. Everything is in perspective now. Let’s just say I’m the kind of guy who knows how to enjoy the moment.”
And that’s what he appears to be doing. He’s got a biopic coming out; his own line of guitars and even has a line of dog collars at Petsmart. All this success jumped off by his appearance on Donald Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice”.
I guess he figured it was time to upgrade or maybe Gibson just got tired of waiting. Neither were thinking about breaking up back in 2010 when he proposed. Let’s watch that special moment shall we…..
