An Amazing Race Producer is Poisoned to Death after a face off with Thugs in Uganda.
All the details regarding the death are still com
ing in. It appears that there were two freelance producers who worked on Season 20 of the Amazing Race. They were approached by locals who attempted to rob them of their belongings. However the two producers refused to cooperate and in turn were poisoned. One of the producers, Jeff Rice, was poisoned fatally. Jeff Rice was found in dead in his hotel room in Kampala, Uganda
According to Rice’s widow Sally Blackman, as told to Fox News, all indications lead to poisoning.
They were not attacked but [evidence] points towards being poisoned, [A]t this stage it is quite difficult to give you any firm reports as the incident is currently under investigation by the Uganda police. I would not like to speculate or even attempt to give my views on this as this may jeopardize the investigation going forward.”
The other producer said to be with him was his production assistant. She became violently ill and is now in a coma. Sally Blackman also provided what information she had pertaining to her status to Fox
“His production assistant, currently working for Maverick Entertainment [Rice’s production company], was also discovered in a coma and has been hospitalized in Uganda,” she said, before adding, “She has not shown any improvement as [of] yet.”
Rice leaves behind his wife and two children. Blackman describes her husband as,
“a dedicated father who made the most of his time with his family when back home in South Africa.” She went on to say, “He has left a huge void, not only in the film industry, but with his family he has left behind. We will miss his smiles and constant humor.”
Season 20 of the Amazing Race premiered this Sunday. Rice was what they call a facilitating producer. His job was to explore ahead of the production crew to insure that the land and environment are safe for filming. I guess the job is as dangerous as it sounds.
