Michael Phelps Arrested for DUI – Now has 2 DUI’s to go with his 22 Olympic Medals

Michael Phelps was pulled over in Maryland early Tuesday in his white 2014 Land Rover.  He was stopped because he was doing about 40 miles per hour.  40 mph over the speed limit that is!

He was going through the Fort McHenry Tunnel on I-95 when he was pulled over by Maryland Transit Authority Police.  He appeared drunk so he was given multiple field sobriety tests, all of which he failed.  In the official MDTA report it states,

Mr. Phelps was identified as the driver by his driver’s license and appeared to be under the influence. He was unable to perform satisfactorily a series of standard field sobriety tests. Mr. Phelps was cooperative throughout the process.” [more…]

Phelps was arrested and charged with a DUI, excessive speeding and crossing double lane lines.

This was the second time that Phelps has received a DUI.  10 years ago at age 19, he was also served with a DUI.  He was not only driving intoxicated, but he was also underage.  During that incident he ran a stop sign and was charged with running the stop sigh, DUI, DWI and violation of a license restriction.  He plead guilty to that incident and did an 18 month probation.  Many thought he learned his lesson.  During an interview with the Washington Post at the time, Phelps said,

Getting in a car with anything to drink is wrong, dangerous and unacceptable.  I’m 19 but was taught no matter how old you are, you should always take responsibility for your actions, which I will do.”

I think he should stick to weed.  It’s now legal, much safer and you can still have your own cereal box.
