‘American Idol’ Season 14 Advance Screening Provides Us With A Few Minor Spoilers!

People see the word “spoiler” in the title and get nervous, but don’t you worry Idol fans. There are no major spoilers down below; however, we do have some information that will probably make you extremely excited for the two-night, three-hour premiere event on Jan. 7 and Jan. 8.

A few very lucky people were able to watch an advance screening of the Idol premiere. One of those people being Rodney Ho, the TV/Radio blogger for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He watched all three hours of the special screening and was nice enough to share some of the interesting changes Idol has made for season 14.

Rodney notes that for the first time in 14 seasons, Idol finally gives us a look at what it’s like for contestants during the very first audition. The auditions they pretended never happened in the previous seasons. It’s going to be interesting to see how different the contestants act in front of the producers versus their auditions in front of the celebrity judges.

We also learned that there will be more interaction between the contestants and the behind-the-scenes crew. In addition to those exciting changes, Rodney also noted that the producers no longer care about auditions being a cappella. We saw this last season with a few contestants bringing guitars, but season 14 auditions will include pianos!

And while the show has moved away from featuring terrible singers, Rodney claims there is one strange lady who “likes to squish her face a lot” and believes she is about to meet Jennifer Lawrence. She also does her audition from her knees. Sounds interesting? Maybe a bit naughty?
