New Year…New You! Does This Weight Watchers Commercial Starring Oprah Winfrey Motivate You To Lose Weight? (VIDEO)


Thanksgiving? Done. Christmas? Done. New Year’s Eve? Okay, we still have one more, “Oh my gosh. I can’t believe I ate all that,” party to survive. But after the party ends Friday morning, the holiday season ends and real life begins.

Everyone promises that they will make better decisions in the new year. Most of those decisions involving food. Millions of people around the world will try their best to lose those holidays pounds, and Oprah Winfrey wants you to know she is right there with you.

Back in October, Oprah announced she would become a spokesperson for Weight Watchers after purchasing 10 percent of the company’s shares. At the time of the transaction, her stake in the company was worth a respectable $43.2 million; however, that number shot up just one month later to an impressive $145 million.

And now Oprah is fulfilling her spokesperson duties in hopes of increasing the size of her bank account and decreasing the size of her stomach. She is playing a big part in the upcoming winter season marketing effort — one of the most important times of the year for gyms and weight loss programs.

In the one minute video below, you can hear Oprah explain why she joined Weight Watchers, “Inside every overweight woman is a woman she knows she can be. Many times you look in the mirror and you don’t even recognize your own self because you got lost—buried—in the weight that you carry.”
