Drake Reveals He’s “In Love” With Rihanna During Heartfelt Speech At MTV Video Music Awards, Twitter Demands A Proposal! (VIDEO)
Deep down, we all knew Drake was in love with Rihanna. He’s constantly talking about her, praising her, jumping at the chance to be in a song with her, and when she started grinding her ass all over him in the music video for Work, it looked like he saw and talked to God.
And last night during the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards, Drake finally admitted to millions of people around the world that he was (and has been) in love with the 28-year-old singer.
He presented her with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, and during his speech, he talked about how amazing Rihanna is.
Captivating from day one, the iconic being that is Rihanna was already at a place where most artists only dream of going. For them, that’s often the peak, but for her, that was a starting point and she has kept ascending to an untouchable level ever since.
And he continued to shower her with compliments for several minutes. She was dripping wet with praise, and then near the end of his speech, Drake paused and when his voice returned to the mic…it wasn’t as strong. His voice was shaky.
“She’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old,” he told the crowd, before adding that she’s one of his best friends in the world, “all my adult life, I’ve looked up to her.”
Twitter was like 100% sure he was going to propose…
But he didn’t, and that’s a good thing. The night wasn’t about Drake. It was about the amazing talent Rihanna has. It was about celebrating her success.
Just like Drake said in this Instagram post after the show was over…
