Nicki Minaj’s Husband Kenneth Petty Gets Off Easy, Sentenced To Home Confinement And Probation

As some of you may know, Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, was facing jail time in California after failing to register as a sex offender when he moved to the state with Nicki. You see, Petty was convicted of rape back in 1994 in New York City. He served four years in prison for the assault.

And now whenever he moves, he has to register as a sex offender, so when he failed to do so, the feds were all over him.

He entered a guilty plea back in September of 2021, and it looks like that was a good call, because on Wednesday (July 6) the judge working the case decided to hit Petty with an easy sentence.

Prosecutors were asking the judge for 15 months in prison for Petty and five years of probation, but the judge decided 15 months in prison wasn’t necessary. Instead, Petty gets one year in a mansion!

The judge slapped him with one year of home confinement, three years probation and a $55,000 fine. Basically, he’s still serving a one year prison sentence, it’s just, he’ll be inside a super luxurious mansion with Nicki Minaj while doing it, so really… not that bad.

I’m sure it’s a little bit of a bummer that he can’t really leave the house for a year (save for court appearances, doctors appointments, etc) but hey, it could be a lot worse. Being the husband of Minaj, he might have been targeted in prison. Or he may have been treated like royalty. You never know. It would have been a gamble.

For those who don’t remember, Minaj and Petty knew each other way back in the day, and then reconnected several years ago. They went public with their relationship in 2018 and tied the knot less than one year later. In September 2020, Minaj gave birth to their first son together.
