Angela Yee Is LEAVING ‘The Breakfast Club’ For Her Own Show, But DJ Envy And Charlamagne Are Staying!

It’s the end of an era for The Breakfast Club. Late Tuesday night, co-host Angela Yee shocked fans by tweeting out, “The Breakfast Club as you know it is officially over.”

This had a lot of people freaking out. What did she mean? Was the show ending? If so, that would have been a HUGE deal. The hit Power 105.1 FM morning show airs on over 100 stations nationwide (which is a big deal for radio shows these days) and has over 8 million listeners each month.

Back in August of 2020, the super successful show was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame. So yeah, if Yee was hinting at its conclusion… yikes!

Thankfully though, the show is not ending, but it will sound a lot different. On Wednesday (August 10) Yee confirmed that she was leaving the morning show. This is obviously still big news, considering she’s been on the show for 10 years.

Yee says she’s moving on to host her own solo afternoon show, Way Up with Angela Yee, which plans to start sometime in the fall. It’s already been given the greenlight by Premiere Networks.

‘This is really exciting. This is something that I’ve been waiting to do for years now, way before the pandemic….I have my podcast Lip Service and I was thinking I would be able to get something like a weekend situation.’ Yee said she was approached by iHeart and was told ‘that they are gonna give me my very own show.’

Both Charlamagne and Envy will stay on The Breakfast Club, and surprisingly, they seem cool with Yee leaving. Of course, it doesn’t seem like they have much choice. She was clearly wanting to leave. According to the reports, Yee will remain on The Breakfast Club for the next month or so. She’ll then start preparing for her solo outing.
