Why I Think “Expendables 2” Stars Should Pay Dead Stuntman’s Parents $25K!!
Back in October we learned that a stuntman was killed while filming Expendables 2. His parents have now filed a wrongful death lawsuit in attempts to get some money from the producers.
The stunt man was killed in Bulgaria during filming when a fake bomb exploded. Kun Liu, a native of Beijing was in a rubber boat and was killed right there on set, at the scene. His parents have filed a suit seeking unspecified damages of more than $25,000. They say they would like the money for funeral expenses as well as emotional trauma. In the documents filed, it says they are suing specifically for
…the loss of society, love, comfort, attention, services and support of their son.
In Hollywood Stunt men are required to basically sign a contract regarding injuries and death but that does not necessarily apply if negligence regarding safety can be proved. Liu’s parents say that the film makers
negligently and carelessly failed to provide adequate protection from hard to the participants of the stunts.
HOLLYWOOD STEP UP!
Here again is one of those rare incidents that I think Hollywood should step up and open their wallets. Liu’s parents should not have to pay for anything. We are dealing with multimillionaires in a multimillion dollar industry. Let’s take a look at this all-star action hero line up shall we?
- Sylvester Stallone – Net Worth $275 Million
- Jason Statham – Net Worth $30 Million
- Bruce Willis – Net Worth $150 Million
- Liam Hemsworth – Net Worth $1.5 Million
- Arnold Schwarzenegger – Net Worth $300 Million
- Jean Claude Van Damme – Net Worth $8 Million
- Jet Li – Net Worth $55 Million
- Chuck Norris – Net Worth $26 Million
- Dolph Lundgren – Net Worth $14 Million
- Terry Crews – Net Worth $9 Million
- Randy Couture – Net Worth $9 Million
The budget for the film is $100 Million dollars. $25K for Sylvester Stallone is literally like $2.00 for you or I. For Jean Claude Van Damme it’s more like $250. Either way, someone should be taking up collection. If not then everyone should be ashamed of themselves.
Expendables 2 hits theaters August 17th!
