SZA Says Brief Fling With Drake Was Not At All “Hot And Heavy” As Some May Think

Back in 2020, Drake surprised everyone in the track, “Mr. Right Now” when he dropped a line about dating SZA over 10 years prior.

If you haven’t heard the song, Drake raps, “Yeah, said she wanna f—k to some SZA, wait / ‘Cause I used to date SZA back in ’08.” — It was a pretty big admission at the time because no one had known they dated. They had managed to keep it a secret for years.

After the song dropped, SZA went on her Twitter account to straighten out the details:

So it was actually 2009 lol. In this case a year of poetic rap license mattered lol I think he just innocently rhymed 08 w wait . Anybody who really knows me and was around during this time can confirm … it’s all love all peace.

Drake was 21 at the time and SZA had just turned 18.

During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the now 33-year-old singer-songwriter claims the relationship with Drake was more playful than it was sensual.

We were really young. It wasn’t hot and heavy or anything. It was like youth vibes. It was so childish.

In recent months, SZA has been linked to Kylie Jenner’s ex, Travis Scott. Before that, she had dated the same man for over 10 years. They were even engaged to be married, but they decided to go their separate ways earlier this year.
